In response to Agenda Items:

 

Agenda Item 202775                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking conduct a speed study on Dane Street and Concord Avenue.

Traffic and Parking will prepare a Speed Zone Study for Dane St and Concord Ave.   The Speed Zone Study will be prepared after the vehicle radar speed data is forwarded to Traffic and Parking by the Somerville Police Department.

 

Agenda Item 202785                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking consider purchasing 70 temporary speed bumps to be deployed beginning in April, or as soon as possible, on residential streets that have requested traffic calming measures.

Traffic and Parking will defer to the Transportation and Infrastructure Department for guidance in this request.

 

Agenda Item 202786                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking consider purchasing 21 flashing speed monitoring sign boards to deploy on streets where residents are concerned about speeding.

Traffic and Parking will defer to the Transportation and Infrastructure Department for guidance in this request.

 

Agenda Item 202787                     

That the Traffic Commission consider amending Article 14 of the City Traffic Regulations to provide a simplified means for residents and Aldermen to request, and for the Commission to approve, the placement of speed bumps on residential streets.

The Traffic Commission adopted and interim Article 14 in 2015 until a mobility study has been completed in the City.

That the Director of Traffic and Parking assign a Parking Control Officer at the charter school on Franklin Street during release time.

The charter school on Franklin Street is on a regular patrol route for a Parking Control Officer.

That the Director of Traffic and Parking install reflective material on the STOP sign post at Governor Winthrop and Ten Hills Roads.

Traffic and Parking will install reflective material on the Stop sign post at Governor Winthrop and Ten Hills Road.

That the Director of Traffic and Parking install a flashing cross walk sign on Broadway at the East Branch Library.

Traffic and Parking does not have flashing Pedestrian crosswalk signs in inventory.  Flashing Pedestrian crosswalk signs have been ordered from the City sign vendor.  When delivered this sign will be installed at the described location in the  Board Order.

 

Agenda Item 202797                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking repaint the crosswalk at Mount Vernon Street and Pearl Street.

The crosswalk across Mt Vernon St at Pearl St was reviewed and in good condition.  This crosswalk will be repainted when conditions require.

 

Agenda Item 202798                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking paint the bike lanes on Washington Street.

The Bike Lanes on Washington St will be painted during the upcoming pavement marking season.

 

Agenda Item 202799                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking consider placing warning signs at the entrance of East Broadway, at McGrath Highway, to let drivers know the street will merge to one lane.

On Broadway prior to the location where two lanes transition into one lane there is a sign with the legend Right Lane Ends.  This sign is properly located.  Additional signs at East Broadway and McGrath are not required.

 

Agenda Item 202810                     

That the Traffic and Parking Engineer and the Director of Transportation and Infrastructure inspect 39 Webster Avenue to determine if the driveway there is legal, and report back to the Committee on Licenses and Permits.

Traffic and Parking has no jurisdiction over curb cuts.  Curb cuts are approved by the DPW.

 

Agenda Item 202862                     

That the Director of Traffic and Parking explain its policy of reporting back to citizens who submit traffic calming petitions.

All Traffic Calming Petitions have been submitted to the Transportation and Infrastructure Department for recommendations.  Responses are forthcoming.
