That the Director of SPCD (ISD) and the Director of Health determine the sources of a greatly increased rodent infestation in the areas of Lincoln Park and Central and Madison Streets, and develop an action plan to address this problem.

That the Executive Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development (ISD) coordinate with the city’s current rodent control vendor to conduct a neighborhood inspection of the Lincoln Park area, (at specific locations to be provided by the Ward 2 Alderman), and in the area of Central and Madison Streets, to determine the sources of a greatly increased rodent infestation. Said inspection should utilizing all of the tools recently created to address rodent issues including door knockers, citations and fines for problem properties, notifications to property owners of the condition of their property and the need to provide rodent control; AND BE IT FURTHER ORDERED That the Executive Director of the Office of Strategic Planning and Community Development and the Director of Health prepare an action plan to address the rodent problem set forth herein and appear before the Committee on Public Health and Public Safety to discuss said plan; AND BE IT FURTHER ORDERED That said plan shall be provided to members of the Board of Aldermen at least 48 hours prior to the meeting of the Public Health and Public Safety Committee. Upon completion of said inspection, a report shall be submitted to the Board of Aldermen, detailing the findings and actions taken to address this problem which has had a very serious negative impact on the quality of life for residents in the neighborhood.
