To the Honorable Board:

In early 2008, the Board of Aldermen voted to authorize the disposition of Harris Park in East Somerville and the adjacent right-of-way as part of an anticipated land swap to create a new park in the area.  Since then, the City has successfully secured grant funds to purchase three parcels on Cross Street East for a new park, so a land swap is no longer needed.  Instead, I would like to recommend that the Board re-authorize the disposition of the property as a land sale, since it will no longer be needed for a park and no other municipal use has been identified for the property.

Attached is draft order declaring Harris Park at 0 Cross Street East and the section of Cross Street East adjacent to Harris Park available for disposition in accordance with G.L. c. 30B, s. 16.

OSCPD staff will be available to answer any questions you may have.

Respectfully submitted,

Joseph A. Curtatone

Mayor
