WHEREAS: A large portion of Somerville’s tree canopy, which reduces pollution and heat island effects, is located on private property; and,
WHEREAS: House bill1316 adds Section 231 to Chapter 175 of the General Laws, which provides that a company shall not require the removal of a tree from the property of a homeowners insurance policyholder if a certified arborist has determined the tree is not a hazard to the property; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT
RESOLVED: That the Somerville City Council supports H.1316 and urges the General Court to enact it; AND BE IT FURTHER
RESOLVED: That the City Clerk sends a copy of this resolution to the Somerville's state legislative delegation
