Official Text

WHEREAS:                     The City of Somerville received more than $77 million in Local Relief Funds from the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021 for the purpose of combating the public health and economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic; and

 

WHEREAS:                      The Administration has allocated more than $2.3 million in rental assistance and $1 million in a Universal Basic Income pilot project; and

 

WHEREAS:                      The current omicron surge is impacting our most vulnerable residents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT

 

RESOLVED:                     That this Council asks the Administration to expedite the implementation of the Rental Assistance and Universal Income Pilot Projects, double the investment in the Universal Income Pilot Project, and update this Council on the expedited implementation within 14 days.
