Traffic and Parking Director responding to various Board Orders.

To the Honorable Board:
{The following is a response by Traffic and Parking to the following Board Orders.)
• B.O.A. #19074 : That the Commissioner of Public Works and Director of Traffic and parking arrange a meeting with Comcast and the Ward #6 Alderman to consider closing the driveway onto Wallace St at Holland St, raising the curb, and planting trees along the sidewalk, to slow traffic, improve air quality, and lower the noise created by Orleans customers at night.
The Director of Traffic and Parking will coordinate with the Commissioner of Public works to arrange a meeting with Comcast and the Ward 6 Alderman.
• B.O.A. #190117: That the Director of Transportation and the Director of Traffic and Parking provide this Board with information regarding two MassDOT Bridge Reconstruction Projects and their potential negative impacts: the Craigie St Drawbridge at Leverett Circle and the O’Brien Highway, and the Longfellow Bridge Project
Both projects (Craigie St Bridge Project is at present ongoing) will have/has limited impact on local Somerville streets. With the Craigie St Project there has been observed increases in traffic in the Union Sq area (Somerville Ave, Washington St, Beacon St, Webster Ave, and Prospect St). This increase in traffic has been minor in nature. This same type of traffic impacts are expected with the Longfellow Bridge Project.
• B.O.A. #190370: That the Director of Traffic and Parking appear before this Board’s Committee on Traffic and Parking regarding vehicles exiting from Clyde St onto Cedar St.
The Director of Traffic and Parking will appear before this Committee at their convenience to discuss this issue.
• B.O.A. #190419: That the Director of Traffic and Parking appear before the Committee on Public Health and Public Safety to discuss speeding on the south side of the Lowell St Bridge.
The Director of Traffic and Parking will appear before this Committee at their convenience to discuss this issue.
• B.O.A. #190778: That the Director of Traffic and Parking and the City Solicitor review the Basil Tree agreement for parking vans overnight in the Magoun Sq CVS parking lot, in light of the Public Utilities and Public works Committee’s recommendation that those vans be removed from the lot during a snow emergency to allow for proper snow removal.
The Director of Traffic and Parking will review in conjunction with the City Solicitor the Basil Tree Agreement relative to parking in the Magoun Sq CVS lot.
• B.O.A. #190779: That the Director of Traffic and Parking compare the number of metered and business parking spaces in the Magoun CVS parking lot with the spaces allocated in the contract with the City.
The Director of Traffic and Parking will review the above reference agreement.
