Official Text

To the Honorable City Council:

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council appropriate $350,000 from the Municipal Composting Program stabilization fund for the purpose of implementing a municipal curbside composting pilot program. During the FY25 budgeting process, City Council approved the allocation of $350,000 from free cash reserves to create a Municipal Composting Program stabilization fund. This request is to appropriate the approved funding so the Office of Sustainability and Environment can proceed with designing and implementing the pilot program.

Project costs include program branding, program materials (outreach and education), program supplies (such as composting bins, liners, startup kits, etc.) and composting services through a composting vendor.

Appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

Respectfully Submitted,

Katjana Ballantyne, Mayor
