To the Honorable City Council:

In response to agenda item #208276, attached you’ll see the upcoming work of the Somerville Arts Council.

Specifically, concerning Ball and Union Squares:

1.                     We are working with OSPCD to enhance visitation to Ball Square through more events. This summer we are adding a Night Market event. And we will continue, as we did last year, to support a “Ball for Squares” event, working with the business community. In addition, to the Night Market on June 15th, down the street in the Nathan Tufts park, on June 15th we will host our full afternoon Jazz and Blues Festival.

2.                     Concerning Union Square, we continue to produce our cultural economic development initiative, ArtsUnion. This year, the ArtsUnion series will produce eight events, including Oct. SomerStreets.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your continued support of our work.

Gregory Jenkins
Executive Director
Somerville Arts Council
