To the Honorable City Council:
The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council accept and approve expending a grant of $3,600.00 from The Massachusetts Councils on Aging to the Somerville Council on Aging, under the provisions of MGL Chapter 44, Section 53A. This grant does not require the commitment of new matching funds.
The purpose of this grant is to pay for program supplies, refreshments and guest speakers/entertainers at the Somerville Memory Cafe. A Memory Cafe is a safe space for those with cognitive decline, and their caregivers, to attend a social or educational event, and to gain support from others, in a supportive, non-judgmental setting.
Appropriate staff will be available to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your consideration of this item.
