To the Honorable City Council:

 

The Mayor respectfully requests that this Council appropriate $15,000 from the Community Preservation Act Fund Historic Preservation Reserve to Mudflat Pottery School, Inc. for the preparation of a plan to preserve the facade of their historic building at 81 Broadway. The appropriation will be allocated to the Historic Preservation CPA category (Fund #3252).

 

The following funding conditions have been placed on the project: 1) The CPA-funded portion of the project must be initiated within three years unless an extension is granted by the CPC; CPA funds will be used only for CPA-eligible expenses; 3) The property will be placed in a Local Historic District; 4) a preservation Restriction will be placed on the property in perpetuity, to be held by the City of Somerville; 5) Mudflat Studio will acknowledge CPA funding in any public communication about the project. Details of this request are available in the attached funding recommendation from the Community Preservation Committee.
